Alakhras Clinic · Tla' Al-Ali, Amman

An examination that reads your whole mouth, not just the tooth you came in for.

Dr. Adnan Alakhras brings together a clinical master’s in paediatric dentistry and a professional diploma in fixed orthodontics, so your child’s check-up sees the teeth of today and how the jaw is growing for tomorrow. Every treatment starts with an examination and a clear explanation of your options, and the decision stays yours.

Hours: Sat–Wed 10–6 · Thu 10–4 · Fri closed

More about the doctor and the clinic.

What your first visit looks like

The first visit has one aim: to understand your case properly. Not to sell you a treatment, and not to rush you into a decision.

  1. 1

You bookBy phone or on WhatsApp, on the same number. Tell us briefly what brought you in.

  2. 2

We listen firstYou explain what hurts or worries you, in your own words, before anything is touched.

  3. 3

ExaminationTeeth, gums and bite, not just the tooth you came for. Digital x-rays in the clinic when the diagnosis needs them, not as a routine.

  4. 4

Explanation and optionsWhat you have, what the options are, what happens if you wait, and why one option is recommended over another.

  5. 5

You decideNo decision on the spot. If you want to think it over at home, or talk it through with your family first, that’s entirely up to you.

Bring any x-rays or dental reports you already have, including from a dentist abroad, and a list of the medicines you take. The first visit, step by step.

What it costs, explained honestly

The order is the same for everyone: the examination first, then your options, and the cost of the option you choose is discussed with you before the work starts.

That’s why you won’t find a list of treatment costs on this site: the cost of dental treatment depends on what is actually in your mouth, and nobody can give you an honest figure for teeth they haven’t examined, here or anywhere. If you’d like to compare, that’s entirely up to you, and the explanation you get here is what makes the comparison fair.

What decides the cost of your treatment: the factors that make one case short and another longer.

Children, and patients who are nervous

Children

Dr. Adnan’s clinical master’s is in paediatric dentistry, and a child’s first visit aims to leave them wanting to come back: getting to know us before the chair, and a calm check-up rather than a visit for pain. Details on Children’s dentistry.

If the dentist makes you nervous

Say so at the start, and we go at your pace. For those who need it, there is laughing gas (nitrous oxide): a small mask over the nose, you stay awake and can talk, the level is adjusted during the appointment, and you breathe pure oxygen at the end. Whether it suits you, or your child, is the doctor’s decision at the examination, after seeing the case and the general health, not something booked over the phone.

Before you book, read When the visit is hard, and before the appointment itself, What to do before a dental appointment if you’re nervous.

If it can’t wait

Severe pain, swelling, or a broken or knocked-out tooth: call the clinic during opening hours and tell us what happened. What to do until you get here is on Dental emergencies and abscesses, and for toothache out of hours, Toothache: what to do right now.

If it has become hard to swallow or breathe, or the swelling has reached your eye or neck: that is a hospital emergency, not an appointment.

Questions people ask

What does my child’s check-up look at?

The teeth and gums, and also how the jaw is growing and how the teeth are coming through, because Dr. Adnan holds a clinical master’s degree in paediatric dentistry and a professional diploma in fixed orthodontics.

I have x-rays or records from a dentist abroad. What should I bring?

Bring whatever you have: x-rays, as files on your phone or a disk or as prints, any reports or treatment notes, and the name of anything already done, such as a crown, a root canal or braces. Add a list of the medicines you take. It all helps the examination, and a new x-ray is taken only if the diagnosis needs it.

Will you take my insurance from home?

Currently, we don’t work with insurance companies, so you pay the clinic directly. If your insurer reimburses you, ask them which documents they need, and tell us before your visit.

How much will my treatment cost?

It’s discussed after the examination, because it depends on your own case, and nobody can put a figure on teeth they haven’t seen. What decides the cost of your treatment explains the factors.

I’m only in Amman for a short time. Can treatment fit my stay?

Often, within limits. After the examination you’ll know what your treatment involves and how its visits are usually spaced, so you can plan. What we can’t do is diagnose from photos. And some treatments, implants especially, need healing time between stages that no travel schedule can shorten.

Can my child and I both be seen in the same visit?

Yes, ask for both when you book. Tell us who is coming and what each of you needs, and we’ll arrange the time with you.
